| For more than 40 years, the Glenn D. Loucks Memorial Games (www.loucksgames.org) in White Plains, NY have been one of the premiere High School Track and Field meets in the U.S. and is the largest independent on-campus meet in the nation. These Games held on Mother's Day weekend draw more than 1,000 athletes from up to 11 Eastern states and several Canadian provinces and annually produce some of the best scholastic performances in the U.S. They have showcased numerous world-class, Olympic, and Paralympic athletes. Wheelchair Sports USA has made a partnership with the Loucks Games to bring wheelchair track to this event on an equal footing with the able-bodied events. With this partnership, wheelchair athletes have a competitive high school open event at the national level. This partnership is good for the Glen D. Loucks Games and for Wheelchair Sports USA. Athletes compete in the 100M, 800M, 1600M events on the track and a 5K road race. Athletes must currently be in high school in order to be considered for this event. Selection is based upon a ranking using the times for the 100M, 800M, and 1500M races at the previous years National Junior Disability Championships regardless of classification or age division. The top 6 males and top 6 females are invited to participate. Using the ranking system the next 6 athlete's will be selected as alternates. If any of the top 6 athletes decline the invitation the next alternate will be invited and so on. The track at White Plains High School is fast. Electronic timing is used and it provides the opportunity to compete against the nations top open high school wheelchair athletes before you see them at the National Junior Disability Championships in the summer. All the times are accepted as qualifying times for the National Junior Disability Championships.
