As you may
have noticed on the Wheelchair and Ambulatory Sports, USA Membership
Application, membership dues cover a calendar year, January to December.
Although many people have gotten in the habit of renewing at a regional event,
this places an extra burden on the local organizing committee. WASUSA and
the Regional Event Coordinators are requesting that members renew their
membership in the first quarter of each calendar year. This will allow the
event coordinators to focus on providing a great multi-sport event for the
athletes as well as allowing the WASUSA National Office to focus on providing
event support to our event coordinators.
For those who choose to wait to renew their membership, there will be a $15
late fee assessed for applications paid online or postmarked after March 31st,
and a $40 late fee assessed for applications paid online or postmarked
after May 31st of each calendar year. In order to expedite your
membership application and to have a receipt to use as proof of membership, we
highly encourage you to renew online using Paypal and our online membership
form. If you choose to print the application and mail it in with a check
or money order, please allow 3-4 weeks for processing and updating of your
application.
In an effort to go green this year, to reduce expenses, and to provide an
opportunity for members to review their own information, WASUSA will not be
mailing membership cards but will instead include an updated member list on our
website. This list will be added to the website on or around April 9th
for your review. We believe this will make things easier for event
coordinators to verify membership and for members to retrieve their membership
numbers and review their registered sports. After April 9th, the
database will be updated weekly.
We hope that this change will streamline the membership renewal process for
everyone, provide quick, convenient access to pertinent membership data, and
reduce the amount of extra work for event coordinators.
Thank you for your continued membership in WASUSA.
Good luck- we
look forward to seeing you this event season!
